Why DIY regluing usually fails
The most common mistake is gluing over old glue. Fresh adhesive won't bond to a cured glue surface. We clean back to bare wood on every mating surface before applying fresh glue which is why our regluing lasts. If someone has already attempted a repair on your piece, we can still fix it.
We manufacture missing or broken pieces
If your antique is missing inlay, moulding, a turned leg, or hardware, we can fabricate a replacement that matches the original. This is one of the things that sets us apart many shops won't take on this kind of work.

Regluing FAQ
How long does regluing take?
Most chairs take a few days — one day for disassembly and cleaning, one for gluing and clamping, and time for the glue to fully cure. A set of 6 dining chairs is typically done within a week.
Can you reglue a chair that's already been glued before?
Yes — we clean out the failed glue from the joints first, back to bare wood. This takes more time than a fresh reglue but it's the only way to get a lasting bond.
Should I reglue before or after refinishing?
Before — always. Structural repairs should happen first. We often do both in the same visit and coordinate the timing so the finish goes on after the glue is fully cured.
