Our background

Built on craft. Driven by care.

John King, the owner of Finishing Traditions, has been refinishing and restoring furniture in Calgary for over 43 years. He's a third-generation furniture refinisher — the knowledge he works with every day was passed down from his father and grandfather, refined over decades of hands-on experience with everything from Victorian antiques to mid-century modern pieces.

Finishing Traditions opened its doors in Calgary in the early 1990s and has built its reputation one piece at a time. When you bring a piece to us, John is involved personally this isn't a shop where your furniture disappears into a back room and comes out handled by whoever is available.

Today the shop runs with a team of three, with a combined experience of over 100 years in furniture refinishing, repair, and restoration. We're licensed and insured, BBB accredited, and proud to still be a local, independent business in NE Calgary.
